Electro, Minimal Wave, E.B.M., Electro clash...?

Publié le 5 Octobre 2010 par Syndic

My last word about all these words !

Electro ?
Yes, definitively !

Electro is Kraftwerk.
Electro is Afrika bambaataa.
Electro is Aux 88 and all the early detroit scene...
Electro is also the soundtracks you can hear in so many b-movies from the 80's...
John Carpenter is Electro !!
Electro is like Rock ! Same feelings ! It directly goes to the essential : heart !

Minimal Wave ?
When i started music ( i mean in 1988, with my synth pss in my bedroom ),
i didn't know all these minimal bands from France or Germany because they released
their titles on very limited tapes and we couldn't get them thru a normal ( commercial ) way !
I always produced minimal music with hardware analog synths and rhythm boxes...
"Minimal" is the most important word to keep in mind when you produce Electro !
"Wave" is INSPIRATION you need to make it !
LA QUINTESSENCE SE PASSE DE FIORITURES !

E.B.M.?
Not really interested in it .
Le Syndicat Electronique produced "BODY WAVE" !
It was more like a kind of...NEW BEAT !

Electro-clash ?
Certainly a real clash with the TRUE Electro !!
I hate that name ! It's used to sell more !
When we started to be booked around the world,
noone knew that style of music we played ( "we" is meaning :
France thru the Invasion Planète people, the Netherlands thru the Hague scene,
Italy thru the label Final Frontier, Germany thru the Genetic Music people, Kitbuilders
U.K thru artists such as Dmx Crew, Carl Finlow, Cylob... ).
The sound was made with old synths. We used some spoken words.
It was minimal, cheap...People didn't know how to name it !?
It was the return of the 80's...but it was not the 80's !
L.S.E ( and Invasion Planète Recordings ) played a new
stuff more cold and minimal...
I wanted to do something different than just the usual "Electro / Techno" attitude.
I wanted a physical presence behind the machines !
Not only a guy with a cap and a silly arty tee-shirt smoking
on a cigarette, his head falling in his laptop !
I wanted someone with the feeling of people in front of him
and the feeling of his machines in the same time... I wanted a "MAN MACHINE"
exciting people...incarning the physical energy of the vibe !
I wanted a ceremony !

When we played in New York City for the first time ( some months before
the attack of the world trade center... )
it was at the " SIN FESTIVAL " ( the bookers, coming from Cuba,
ran a good underground shop called SAFETYINNUMBERS
dedicated to Electro and " avant-garde "music. )
The word "ELECTRO CLASH" didn't exist at all !
At the end of the festival, our bookers decided to continue the party
in a brooklyn club ( near of their shop )...The LARRY TEE's club !!
THE FUTURE CREATOR OF...THAT" HYPE " !
That " Electrocash" came from the UNITED STATES thru people like
Fischer spooner, for example, who were hardly inspired by the
European underground Electro scene.

We don't care !
MUSIC IS MUSIC !

From Diy to Die !
